Enhancements to bird & nest
April 28
Paratext and our partners at Compendium are happy to announce new features now live within bird & nest.
Craft a local bird knowledgebase
Managing your dB status between library colleagues is often challenging. To address this, a Notes feature has been added to each of the 9,441 bird dB profiles now online.
The Notes field can announce changes; show which faculty use these databases; alert about retirement or replacements products; indicate Open Access transitions or provide other important info for colleagues. Leaving information for colleagues on the what/why/how of any resource you subscribe to increase awareness and saves time.
Expansion of nest Benchmarks and Expanded Comparison Options
Top Holdings by Academic Libraries
A new nestbenchmark highlights the top 150 research databases most commonly held. The display shows each Access type; Title; Supplier and Departments associated with it. It is accessible from the main nest menu.
Expanded customized comparison feature for nest
Administrators can now compare holdings with other libraries by format (e.g. datasets, videos, primary sources) as well as academic department. Additionally, youcan toggle between departments (or formats) for any existing customized group you create. This expands comparison options and saves even more time in creating reports.
Expanded Administrative Access Options
bird administrators and host users can now manage staff user accounts directly within bird. This page is accessible from the main navigation bar. This will allow additional access layers for administrators, librarians, and general reference use. Choose who can create reports: who can see but not create reports; and those who would use for general reference purposes.
Visit the "What's New" item on the bird menu for a quick recap if needed.
