New Editions Coming in 2027!

Paratext is developing updated versions of Eight Centuries: 1160–1960; U.S. Masterfile: 1774–2026 and Reference Universe.

These resources will soon move to a more flexible platform designed to support a stronger research experience. Planned enhancements include natural-language querying, expanded taxonomies and wider search options.

What will not change is their identifiable provenance.

The contents of all three applications have their origin in known published sources and reflect deliberate editorial, indexing, and organizational decisions made over decades—in some cases, over centuries.

As we develop the new editions, we intend to preserve that intellectual history while making it easier for researchers to understand the provenance of the data; how it is organized, and how it connects to the larger scholarly record.

Current subscribers or institutions with perpetual access rights will receive these updated versions at no additional charge, consistent with your current agreement.

We will share more as the work progresses and very much appreciate your library’s long-term support.
